7 Semiconductor Stocks Flashing Buy Signals Right Now - And 10 You Must Avoid (April 2026)

The semiconductor sector just posted one of its most volatile weeks this year. While indices bounced hard on Tuesday with names like ON surging 11.2%, ARM jumping 10.5%, and MRVL rallying 12.8% in a single session the broader technical picture tells a far more nuanced story.

We ran our proprietary multi-factor screener across 90+ semiconductor, AI infrastructure, and quantum computing stocks. The model scores each stock from -11 to +11 using 15 technical indicators spanning momentum (RSI, MACD, Stochastic), trend strength (ADX, DI crossovers, Aroon), volume confirmation (OBV, MFI), volatility (ATR, Bollinger Bands), and moving average structure (Golden/Death Cross).

The result? A market that's deeply split. A handful of names are showing genuine breakout setups with volume confirmation. But the majority including some of the most popular AI and quantum names are stuck in confirmed downtrends with no actionable entry in sight.

Top-Ranked Buy Signals: The Best the Screener Found

Only two stocks earned our highest composite rank of #1 this week, and both share a critical trait: rising On-Balance Volume confirming price action. That's the difference between a bounce and a real move.

ARM Arm Holdings | Score: 11 | $151.28 (+10.5%)

Arm is the top-ranked stock in our entire universe this week. The MACD has flipped bullish, +DI leads -DI convincingly (35.8 vs 22.0), and OBV is rising meaning institutional money is flowing in, not just retail chasing. The stock has gained 30.7% on its Rate of Change and 21.6% over the past month.

The setup: Entry zone $103.69–$130.19 (if you missed the breakout), targets at $169.34 and $178.38, stop loss at $137.73. The one caveat ARM still trades on a Death Cross (50-day SMA below 200-day), which means the longer-term trend hasn't confirmed yet. Historical volatility of 86.1% also means this is not a set-and-forget position.

MRVL Marvell Technology | Score: 11 | $99.05 (+12.8%)

Marvell exploded higher and is now trading just 1.15% off its recent high the tightest to highs of any stock in our scan. OBV is rising, the Golden Cross is intact, and the MACD just turned bullish. Stochastic is overbought at 89.7, which is the only flag. At 93.7% historical volatility, expect big swings.

The setup: Entry zone $78.60–$90.15, targets $109.95 and $115.41, stop at $90.87. The screener suggests tightening stops to breakeven given RSI at 62.

Breakout Watch: Stocks With Volume-Confirmed Entries

Beyond the top two, several stocks are meeting 4 out of 6 entry conditions with volume confirmation making them the strongest actionable setups right now.

Ticker Price Score Signal Entry Zone Target 1 Stop Loss R:R
VIAV $33.28 10 STRONG BUY $27.25–$32.09 $38.27 $29.54 1.3:1
CIEN $388.23 9 STRONG BUY $285.52–$367.03 $448.62 $342.94 1.3:1
WIMI $1.92 5 STRONG BUY $1.58–$1.81 $1.98 $1.71 0.3:1

VIAV stands out with an 83.9% gain over three months, a Golden Cross in place, and rising OBV. At a score of 10 and rank #3, it's the highest-conviction non-mega-cap name on the board. CIEN (Ciena) also looks strong with 101.7% historical volatility this is a name that moves, and right now the volume says it wants to move higher.

Note that WIMI scores a 5 but carries a poor 0.3:1 risk/reward ratio and trades on a Death Cross. It's included because it met 4 entry conditions with rising OBV, but position sizing should reflect the elevated risk.

The Caution Zone: Good Scores, But Watch the Risk/Reward

Several well-known names scored well on our model but came with a frustrating asterisk: the risk/reward ratio doesn't justify a fresh entry at current prices. These are "monitor" stocks technically healthy, but you'd want a pullback before committing capital.

Ticker Price Score R:R Why It's a Hold
SLAB $208.15 9 1.3:1 RSI 71 overbought, MACD fading take profit zone
AMD $203.43 6 0.6:1 5/6 conditions met but entry zone already passed
POWI $51.20 9 1.3:1 Golden Cross intact, but stochastic overbought
DELL $164.13 7 1.3:1 Falling OBV despite price gains divergence
PLAB $40.41 7 1.3:1 Bullish MACD, but falling OBV undermines conviction

AMD is an interesting case. It met 5 out of 6 entry conditions the highest count alongside itself but at a 0.6:1 risk-reward, you're risking nearly $15 per share for less than $10 in upside to target. The golden cross is intact and MACD is bullish, but the stock is still 23% off its high and ADX is weak at 10.9, indicating a ranging, directionless market. Watch for a pullback toward $189–$195 for a better entry.

Quantum Stocks Are in Freefall

If you're holding quantum computing stocks, the technical picture is ugly and our screener says it's not time to buy the dip.

Ticker Price Score %Off High 3M Return Signal
IONQ $28.83 -11 -64.9% -36.3% EXIT NOW
RGTI $14.04 -10 -75.1% -37.0% EXIT NOW
QBTS $14.43 -10 -67.8% -44.8% EXIT NOW
QUBT $6.85 -7 -72.2% -35.2% AVOID
ARQQ $13.25 -2 -77.3% -39.0% HOLD

Every single quantum stock in our scan is trading on a Death Cross with bearish DI signals. IONQ, RGTI, and QBTS all hit the dreaded "EXIT NOW" signal meaning the composite score is deeply negative AND the ADX confirms trending downward momentum. These aren't just falling; they're falling with conviction.

The average quantum stock in our scan is down 63.4% from its highs and has lost 38.5% in the past three months alone. Until we see Death Crosses flip and ADX trend readings shift, these are no-touch names regardless of the fundamental narrative.

10 Stocks Flashing Strong Sell

Beyond quantum, several high-profile tech and AI names are in confirmed downtrends. Here are the worst scores in our scan:

Ticker Price Score %Off High Key Issue
SNOW $150.82 -11 -45.6% Stochastic oversold, MFI oversold capitulation phase
BTBT $1.31 -11 -69.0% All indicators bearish, no floor in sight
CEG $279.25 -10 -30.9% Down 6.5% on the day, CCI at -182
CRDO $93.87 -10 -50.4% Death Cross, stochastic oversold at 18.8
INOD $38.62 -10 -58.6% ADX 28 confirms active downtrend
MU $337.84 -9 -26.8% Stochastic at 16.5, worst CCI reading (-161) in scan
LAES $2.62 -9 -65.8% ADX 40 = strong trending down, ROC -32.1%
CALX $48.99 -9 -28.4% Stochastic 13.5, Williams %R at -86.5
ISRG $460.99 -8 -22.2% ADX 33 confirms trend, Death Cross active
AVGO $309.51 -8 -25.1% MFI oversold, Death Cross, falling OBV

Some notable names on the avoid list: MSFT (score -7), GOOGL (-7), META (-6), and TSLA (-6) are all in confirmed downtrends with Death Crosses. Even NVDA at -4 doesn't trigger a single entry condition in our model. These may be great companies, but technically, they're not buyable right now.

ETF Check: The Sector Isn't Healthy

If individual stock picking feels overwhelming, the ETFs tell the story plainly:

SMH (VanEck Semiconductor ETF) scores -4 with a SELL signal. It's 10% off its high, bearish on MACD, and the -DI (33.4) absolutely dominates +DI (14.1). SOXX (iShares Semiconductor ETF) is even worse at -3 with similar bearish internals. Both are in confirmed downtrends with ADX readings above 25.

The sector-level message: this is a stock-picker's market, not a "buy the sector" market. The winners (ARM, MRVL, VIAV, CIEN) are breaking out on their own merits while the broader semiconductor complex remains under pressure.

How We Score These Stocks

Our composite score ranges from -11 to +11 and aggregates 15 technical indicators across five dimensions:

Momentum: RSI position, MACD histogram direction, Stochastic %K levels. Trend: ADX strength, +DI/-DI crossovers, Aroon Up/Down. Volume: OBV trend direction, Money Flow Index levels. Volatility: Bollinger Band position, historical volatility percentile. Structure: Golden/Death Cross status, SMA50 vs SMA200 positioning, distance from highs.

Entry conditions require 3–6 simultaneous confirmations across these dimensions. The risk/reward ratio is calculated using ATR-based stop losses and Fibonacci-extension targets. A stock can score well but still receive a "HOLD" if the R:R doesn't justify new capital at current prices.
